How to Jailbreak Apple TV 2 Ios 5.3 and install XBMC

HOW-TO JAILBREAK THE APPLE TV 2 WITH 5.3 FIRMWARE AND THEN INSTALL AND CONFIGURE XBMC FOR DUMMIES

Requirements

• Apple TV 2 Running Any Firmware
• Latest Version of Seas0nPass for Mac or Windows
• Micro USB Cable (or BlackBerry Data Cable)
• Latest Version of iTunes Installed

PART ONE – THE JAILBREAK

Step 1: Download and Unzip the latest version of “Seas0nPass” to your computer, choose from the Mac Version or the Windows Version depending on your computer.

Step 2: Plug the Apple TV 2 into your computer with the “Micro USB Cable” only. If you don’t see the light at the front of the device slowly flashing at this point, you’ll want to unplug it from the Micro USB Cable then plug in the Electrical Power Supply to the device for ten seconds, then unplug the the Electricity and replug the Micro USB Cable before continuing.

Step 3: Launch the “Seas0nPass” application you just downloaded in the first step.

Step 4: Right-Click on the “Create IPSW” button and choose the “5.3 10B809″ firmware version.

Step 5: Wait a minute, then when prompted, Press and Hold both the “MENU” and “PLAY/PAUSE” buttons on your remote control at the same time in order to Enter DFU Mode.

Step 6: Wait for the process to complete, don’t touch anything while it automatically processes jailbroken firmware restoration.

Step 7: You’ll know it’s complete when you see the “Firmware restore successful!” notice displayed within the Seas0nPass application window, go ahead and press the “Done” button at this point.

Step 8: Unplug the device from your computer for a minute.

PART TWO – SAVE SHSH BLOBS

Step 9: Replug the Apple TV 2 into your computer with the “Micro USB Cable” only once again. If you don’t see the light at the front of the device slowly flashing at this point, you’ll want to unplug it from the Micro USB Cable then plug in the Electrical Power Supply to the device for ten seconds, then unplug the the Electricity and replug the Micro USB Cable before continuing.

Step 10: Now, Right-Click on the “Create IPSW” button and choose the “Save firmware signatures…” function.

Step 11: Press and Hold both the “MENU” and “PLAY/PAUSE” buttons at the same time on your remote control for 12 seconds when prompted to Enter DFU Mode.

Step 12: You’ll now have to wait about a minute for the process to complete, don’t touch anything.

Step 13: It’s done saving your iFaith SHSH Blobs once you see the “Finished!” message appear. You’ll then want to press the “Done” button, unplug your Apple TV 2 device, then Quit the “Seas0nPass” application.

Step 14: Unplug the device from your computer at this point.

PART THREE – FIRST USE

Step 15: Plug the Apple TV into your television with the HDMI and power source connected. Turn your television on at this point and make sure the right “Input” is connected for the HDMI input you’re using.

Step 16: Choose your desired language. We’re going to go with “English” for obvious reasons.

Step 17: Select your wireless internet connection then enter your internet security key. Wired ethernet users can skip this step.

Step 18: When prompted to share information with Apple, choose the “No Thanks” option.

Step 19: Click on the “Settings” icon at the top right of the menu icons.

Step 20: Next go to the “Audio & Video” tab, then click on “Audio Output” once until it changes to the “16 bit” setting.

Step 21: Press the “MENU” button on your remote to go back one level and click on the “General” settings tab, then scroll down to “Time Zone” and click twice to toggle “Set Automatically” to be enabled.

Step 22: Press the “MENU” button several times until you’ve returned to the main menu, the device is now ready to do whatever you wish with it.

PART FOUR – INSTALL XBMC

Step 23: Download (Mac / Windows) and Launch the “nito Installer” software application on your computer. Make sure that both your computer and Apple TV are on the same internet network before continuing.

Step 24: Choose your desired Apple TV device by clicking the “Choose Apple TV” drop down list at the top of the application window.

Step 25: Verify that the IP Address displayed on the lower left of the application window matches the one listed on the “About” tab (Settings -> General menu) of your Apple TV on your television.

Step 26: Click on the “Install XBMC” button on the right side and then wait a few minutes for the process to complete.

Step 27: Quit the nito Installer application once you see the green checkmark displayed within the application window, at this point the device should have automatically rebooted itself as well.

Step 28: Once rebooted, launch XBMC for the first time, ignore any on screen error prompts, just leave it as it is for now.

PART FIVE – CONFIGURE XBMC

Step 29: Navigate to the “File manager” tab under the “SYSTEM” menu heading.

Step 30: Click on the “Add Source” function on the left side of the screen.

Step 31: Choose the first input box which says “” at the top of the popup window, under where it says the “Enter the paths or browse for the media locations” first.

Step 32: Using the on-screen keyboard, enter “http://fusion.xbmchub.com” (without quotations) then press the “Done” button on the left side of the keyboard. If you’re having trouble finding the colon or the slashes, just click the “Symbols” button the keyboard to see them displayed.

Step 33: Select the second input box at the bottom of the popup window under where it says “Enter the name for this media Source” next.

Step 34: Type in “fusion” (without quotations) on the on-screen keyboard, then press the “Done” button to save it.

Step 35: Click on the “OK” button at the bottom of the popup window to save the source you’ve just added.

Step 36: Verify that your “File manager” screen now looks similar to the one below, with “fusion” listed on the left side of the window, then return to the main menu.

Step 37: Click on the “Settings” tab under the “SYSTEM” menu heading.

Step 38: Choose the “Add-ons” option from the left side menu bar, and click “Ok” if prompted with a first-use message.

Step 39: Click on the “Install from zip file” function from the listing.

Step 40: Open the “fusion” server based folder on the right side of the screen.

Step 41: Select the “hub-wizard” folder from the listed options.

Step 42: Click on the “plugin.video.hubwizard-1.1.0.zip” item from the listing, then wait a few seconds for it to download.

Step 43: Return to the main menu, then navigate to the “PROGRAMS” menu.

Step 44: Click on the “XBMCHUB.com  Wizard” addon at this point.

Step 45: Select your desired platform, although it doesn’t really matter which one you choose, they are all pretty much universal.

Step 46: When prompted, agree to any warnings by clicking the “Yes” button to continue.

Step 47: You’ll now have to wait about six minutes for the process to complete, don’t touch anything while this takes place, sometimes it could be a bit slow but it’s working.

Step 48: Once returned to the main menu, click on the little power looking icon at the bottom left of the screen, next to the star icon.

Step 49: Click on the “Exit” function once prompted, then wait a few seconds for XBMC to close.

Step 50: Launch the “XBMC” application, this time you’ll see it configured in all its splendor. It would now be best to wait about five minutes to ensure that all the automated updates go through smoothly.

Step 51: Navigate to the “Settings” tab under the “SYSTEM” menu heading.

Step 52: Select the “Appearance” link on the left hand menu bar.

Step 53: Highlight the “Zoom” field under the “Skin” options. It should be at “0 %” by default.

Step 54: Click on the “Down” Arrow twice until “-4%” is displayed within the field.

Step 55: Return back to the “Settings” menu by pressing the “MENU” button on your remote control, and then choose the “System” link towards the bottom of the left hand menu bar this time.

Step 56: Choose the “Audio output” option from the left hand menu bar.

Step 57: Highlight the first “Audio output” field which should display “Analog” by default.

Step 58: Click on the “Arrow” until it says “Optical/Coax” in the field.

Step 59: Scroll down to the “Play GUI sounds” field at the bottom of the same page where it probably says “Only when playback stopped” by default.

Step 60: Click on the “Arrow” until it displays the word “Never” in the field.

Step 61: Return to the main menu and by clicking the “MENU” button on your remote control several times, then Navigate to the “Add-ons” tab under the “VIDEOS” menu heading.

Step 62: Click the “Left” cursor on your Remote Control so that a side pop-out menu appears. You’ll notice that the first field marked “View” has the word “Info” displayed next to it.

Step 63: Click on the “View” field until “Thumbnail” is displayed, then press the “Right” cursor so that the pop-out menu disappears.

Step 64: Open the “F.T.V” video add-on at this point.

Step 65: Choose the “NEWS TV” category within the first menu of the addon itself.

Step 66: Select the “France24″ live stream and wait two seconds for it to load.

Step 67: Enjoy the Show!
